Cake Day is designed to be simple for both admins and teammates. If something isn’t covered here, email info@mswdigital.com and we’ll get back to you within 1 business day (paid plans) or 2 business days (Free).
No. Cake Day uses an opt-in model. Each person must add their own dates via /cakeday me or by clicking “Add my dates” in an invite DM. Admins can invite people, but nobody is added without their consent.
Run /cakeday me in any Slack channel or DM. A modal opens where you can enter your birth month and day (and your work start date, if you’d like). You can update these at any time by running the same command again.
Yes. Cake Day only asks for your birth month and day — never the year. Your age is never revealed to anyone.
Run /cakeday me and select Remove me entirely to permanently delete your entry. You can also click No thanks on an invite DM to decline being added in the first place. Workspace admins can also remove you from the Roster page in the dashboard.
Your workspace admins can see your birthday and work start date in the Cake Day dashboard at cakeday.io/app. Other workspace members cannot see your dates.
Each shoutout posted uses one credit from your workspace’s annual cap. The cap resets on your workspace’s install anniversary. Here’s how the caps break down by plan:
PlanAnnual cap
Free30
Starter150
Growth500
ProUnlimited
Run /cakeday usage to check your current balance and reset date.
Cake Day skips the celebration, logs it, and DMs workspace admins to let them know. Skipped celebrations are not retroactively posted after an upgrade — only future celebrations will be sent. Upgrading your plan restores headroom immediately.
If you’re approaching your cap, upgrade before the cap is reached to avoid skipped celebrations. Run /cakeday usage to check your balance.
Yes, on Starter, Growth, and Pro plans. On Free, both types post to the same channel. You can configure channels at cakeday.io/app/settings.
Yes. Go to Settings and toggle Paused. No shoutouts will be posted while Cake Day is paused. Celebrations that fall during a pause are not retroactively sent after you resume.
Cake Day uses Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash via the paid Gemini API to write each celebration message. Cake Day sends only the celebrant’s display name, celebration type (birthday or anniversary), timing framing, and — for anniversaries — the year count. No personal emails, message history, or other sensitive data is sent to Google.Per Google’s paid Gemini API terms, content sent via the paid API is not used to train or improve Google’s models.
Cake Day stores your Slack user ID, display name, birth month and day, and work start date (if you provided it). It does not store your birth year, email address, profile photo, or any message content.See Privacy & Data for full details.
All roster, configuration, and audit data is deleted within 30 days of uninstall. Stripe billing records are retained for up to 7 years to comply with U.S. tax law.See Privacy & Data for full details.
